Qingdao have appointed their new manager after the resignation of former head coach, Liang Jie.
The club's board of directors has confirmed that Liang Jie will be stepping down from his position as head coach of Qingdao in order to take on a new role within the football industry.
Liang Jie was appointed as head coach of Qingdao last season and helped the team secure a place in the Chinese Super League (CSL) playoffs for the first time since 2015. However, despite the team's success during his tenure, he decided it was time to move on and seek new challenges.
In his place, Qingdao have appointed former China U-23 national team coach, Zhang Guimei, as their new head coach. Zhang is known for his strong tactical approach and has previously worked with several top clubs in China.
Zhang will need to work quickly to turn around Qingdao's fortunes and help them avoid relegation this season. The team currently sit bottom of the CSL table and have already lost six games so far this season.
Despite the difficult situation, Qingdao fans remain hopeful that under Zhang's guidance, they can make a strong fight for survival and stay in the CSL next season.
